BIOTECHNOLOGICAL PRODUCTION FACILITY FOR NOSTOC COMMUNE PRODUCTION.
How it works video
Existing technology
Several small and medium scale photobioreactors have already been developed and tested! These reactors from 50 up to 500l allow cultivation of suitable biomass concentrations of nitrogen-fixing Nostoc comune, provide controlled environments where variables like light intensity, nutrient concentration, pH, and CO2 supply are controlled. However prototype bioreactors can be further developed and improved for production optimization, automation and further upscaling. Work is conducted on 2500l photo bioreactor development for large-scale production and product costs redution.
Two products of the Nostoc comune biotechnological process are the live cell biomass and metabolite rich conditioned media. Both products have the potential and can be further improved by drying, granulation, concentration and stabilization within the scope of R&D.
Technology transfer opportunity: Nostoc Biotech Group offers a technology transfer opportunity to interested parties to establish a fully operational, sustainable biotechnological facility for the production of Nostoc commune based products, focusing on its use in agriculture for nitrogen fixation, soil bioremediation, and as a biofertilizer to improve crop resistance and yields.
This technology transfer would include facility planning and engineering, as well as staff training.
The proposed facility will serve as a scalable, modular production center for Nostoc comune, leveraging its unique properties to enhance agricultural sustainability.
The facility will consist of:
• Photobioreactors for optimal cultivation
• Nutrient preparation and bioreactor feed systems
• Systems for harvesting, drying, and product packaging
• Storage and expedition facilities
• Quality control laboratories
• Distribution and logistics facilities
• Staff premises and experimental R&D labs, where applicable.
The design will emphasize efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and environmental sustainability, using renewable energy sources and water recycling systems.
